Why September Is IPL Season

With a new fall season here, you may think that as long as you’ve bought some boots and a billowy sweater that you are good to go. And although you may be ready to stay cozy, we have something else that you should try if you want to get ready for fall: an IPL.

Intense pulsed light (IPL) works by transmitting tiny pulses of laser light into the skin to give patients brighter, healthier-looking skin. And because fall has just started and you are no longer spending your days at the pool, we think that September is the perfect time to get one, but why?

IPL’s Target Sunspots

One of the biggest things to know about IPL’s is that they are used to treat a variety of skin concerns, including sunspots. If you got a few more sunspots over the summer break than you may care to admit, a photofacial could help you remove them. With each burst of light, it will encourage your skin to slough off the sunspot and will reveal clearer, healthier skin in its place.

You Aren’t In the Sun

We always tell our patients to avoid getting an IPL until they know they are going to be out of the sun. IPLs not only make yous r skin extra sensitive to burn but if we are using them to get rid of sunspots, the last thing you want to do is something counterproductive like to layout in the sun. Now that temperatures are colder and you’re spending more time indoors, it makes more sense for you to get an IPL right now rather than in the middle of the summer.

During your initial consultation with us, we will do a brief examination of your skin, answer any questions and that you have, and then determine just how many IPL sessions you will need.
