If you are a male who suffers from extreme razor burn or ingrown hairs, then you may be wondering how on earth you’ll ever get rid of your red, irritated skin. Here at Twin City Plastic Surgery, we have several things that we can do to help you combat your irritated skin including waxing. If you have never had your face waxed, however, then you may not know what you can expect.
Let It Grow Out A Little
One thing that we encourage all of our waxing patients to do is to let their facial hair grow out a little bit. If you come into our office and you don’t have enough facial hair growth, then we may have you come back at another time. The trick with waxing is that in order for the wax and waxing tape to adhere to your hair and pull it out, it needs to have enough facial hair to grab ahold of.
Exfoliate In Between Sessions
If razor burn or ingrown hairs are really giving your skin damage, then we may recommend that you exfoliate in between waxing sessions. Exfoliating will help to lift up ingrown hairs so that they aren’t trapped under the skin. When exfoliating, use a gentle facial exfoliator and rub it on your skin in a circular motion; this will help you get out any dirt, oil, or anything else that’s causing your ingrown hairs.
Get Waxed Regularly
One of the tricks to really getting rid of ingrown hairs and razor burn is to get waxed on a regular basis. By getting waxed every couple of weeks, you can help to ensure that your hair gets on the same growth cycle which can make it so that you don’t have to get waxed quite as frequently. Depending on how severe your razor burn is, we may even encourage you to avoid shaving in between waxing sessions.
If you are sick of feeling like your face is on fire after you shave, then make sure that you use the tips listed in this article when you are getting waxed. To learn more about facial waxing or to schedule our appointment, contact our Bloomington office at (309) 662-6772.
