Now that summer is coming to an end, it’s time to gear up for another year of chauffeuring your kids around from school to soccer practice. In addition to making sure your teens and preteens have all for the school supplies and clothes they need for the new year ahead, make sure that you give them tips to take care of their skin as well. Because teens are more prone to getting acne, we have a few tips for you to give them to help combat it.
Get Them Face Wipes
If your kid has oily skin or if they play a lot of sports where they sweat a lot, they are probably experiencing some breakouts. One easy thing to send them to school with is some face wipes. Unlike baby wipes that may cause more breakouts, face wipes are designed with the skin in mind, which means that they are extra sensitive. Plus, they are so easy to use that they can use them in the middle of the day or right after a sports practice to help get rid of dirt and oil build up on the skin.
Teach Them How to Use Skincare
Chances are, your kid didn’t have to use skincare products when they were in elementary school or even junior high, which mean that they don’t know how to use them. Once they start getting a blemish here or there, teach them how to use skincare products correctly. Specifically, try teaching them the following:
- Wash your face in the morning and at night with a mild facial cleanser
- Pat your skin dry after washing it
- Use a toner to combat oil and apply it with a cotton ball
- Wear a moisturizer both morning and night
- Use spot cream to treat pimples that have just popped
- Apply sunscreen during the day
These are just a few of the basic things that you can teach your preteen or teenager to do before they go back to school. To learn a little bit more about skincare tips, contact our Bloomington office and call (309) 662-6772.
