Forehead Lift (Browlift)

Get a Brow Lift in Bloomington, IL

A brow lift is recommended when the upper area of the face begins to appear saggy or aged. This procedure helps to create a more youthful appearance by raising drooping eyelids, reducing wrinkles on the forehead, nose, and between the eyes, and smoothing out the vertical creases between the eyebrows and on the forehead.  The best candidates for brow lift are ones who want to prevent or reduce signs of aging.

 Brow Lift Procedure

There are two primary types of brow lifts performed by our board-certified plastic surgeons at Twin City Plastic Surgery. The first is called an endoscopic incision. With this procedure, the surgeon inserts a small tube with a camera on the end through incisions made on the hairline. The surgeon then adjusts the tissue and muscle beneath the skin to correct any creases, wrinkles, or droopiness. The second type of procedure is called a coronal incision. In this process, the surgeon creates an incision spanning from ear to ear above the hairline. The surgeon then makes any muscle or tissue adjustments necessary. The plus side of this procedure is that the scar is well covered by the hair.

 Brow Lift Recovery

The initial healing of the incisions usually takes 10 to 14 days. Your forehead may be taped or wrapped loosely in order to minimize swelling and bruising. If the doctor feels it is necessary, a small tube may be placed under the skin in order to drain any excess blood or fluid. Most patients return to normal activity within two weeks. Healing will continue for several weeks up to several months after, although you will be presentable in public after two weeks.
