Dermal fillers are products that rejuvenate the skin by eliminating and improving the appearance of wrinkles. They can also enhance the lips and raise scar depressions. Dermal fillers can be made of hyaluronic acid, collagen, calcium, or hydroxyl apatite. Fillers such as Juvederm®, Voluma™ XC, Radiesse® Volumizing filler, Belotero Balance®, and Sculptra® Aesthetic can be used to bring back the youthfulness of aging skin by filling wrinkles and saggy skin.
Best known dermal fillers
JUVÉDERM® is a type of facial injectable filler made of hyaluronic acid used to correct moderate to severe facial folds and wrinkles with results lasting approximately nine months. This type of filler is known for its smooth consistency, which makes it unique from other hyaluronic acid dermal fillers, which have a granular consistency. It utilizes a HYLACROSS™ technology that is responsible for its smooth and malleable properties. Hyaluronic acid is a substance naturally produced by the body that has the ability to retain water, acting as a cushioning agent in the areas around the injection sites, working to add volume to the skin and improves its overall appearance.
JUVÉDERM VOLUMA™ XC
JUVÉDERM VOLUMA™ XC injectable gel is the first and only filler FDA-approved for deep injection in the cheek area to correct age-related volume loss. It provides a subtle lift, helping to restore contour and a more youthful profile, for up to 2 years, in patients over the age of 21. It’s different than JUVÉDERM® XC and works on a different area of the face as JUVÉDERM® XC smoothes out moderate to severe wrinkles and folds around the nose and mouth, like parentheses, and JUVÉDERM VOLUMA™ XC, adds volume to the cheek area.
Radiesse® Volumizing Filler
Made of calcium hydroxyapatite, this type of synthetic dermal filler may be used to correct moderate to severe facial folds and wrinkles. This filler can achieve longer-lasting effects because it also stimulates collagen production.
BELOTERO BALANCE® Dermal Filler is made of a material called hyaluronic acid or HA. HA naturally exists as a component of your skin. By binding to water, it fills in wrinkles and folds, allowing immediate and smooth correction. This filler has unique properties that allow it to adapt within the skin for soft and even correction. The versatility of the product makes it strong enough to handle deep treatment areas such as nasolabial folds (smile lines around the mouth), yet soft enough to treat more delicate areas such as vertical lip lines (thin lines that appear above the lip line).
